About the Clients:
Streeter Technologies supports several types of home users. They may be employees using corporate equipment in their home office. They may be parents wanting to be sure their children’s games are working properly and not gumming up the works. They may be a retiree depending on email for contact with the outside world. Usually it is a mother or father with a family using the computer for the Internet, personal email, digital photographs, or family business accounting, and often their children share the computer. They already know 90% of what they need but want someone to give them the last 10%. These clients have a list of questions related to using their computers.

The Challenge:
The challenge for supporting home users is to determine what additional skills or hardware/software improvements they need to be able to do what they want on the computer easily and enjoyably.

Home users call Streeter Technologies for a variety of reasons. They get a virus. The computer will not turn on. They want a tutorial but a class would be overkill. They are frustrated with the myriad little questions that have arisen. They might be upgrading the computer, or installing a cable modem or DSL. They are upgrading their operating system or desktop software and need support to ensure that data is not lost or that there are no system conflicts.

The Solution:
Streeter Technologies uses a methodology that starts with a focused telephone interview in advance of a house-call, allowing us to determine the exact nature of the problem. That way we bring just the right software and tools, and have already researched the issue if necessary. We watch how clients use their computers when they have a question about software or hardware: often the answer lies in some simple tips for optimal usage. In the case of a technical problem, our preparation and experience helps us solve it quickly, thoroughly and at minimal cost to the client.

Many home users have little background in computers, so Streeter Technology technicians are careful to explain things in a way they can understand and not overload them with information. Some experienced users are looking for more specialized knowledge, more computing power, or solutions to more complex challenges. Streeter Technologies can draw on its vast experience to offer these clients a wide variety of options, from the simple to the more ambitious. In either case, we work with home users to find out exactly what they need and move forward from there. In this way, the home user always knows what we're doing and why we're doing it.
